Hey, Hi, Hello
I’m Chelsi. I’m a ceramicist located in Rock Hill, South Carolina. I’ve been making pottery at the Rock Hill Pottery Center since 2021. In 2020, I quit my corporate job and went full time as a wedding photographer and videographer.
Being my own boss gave me time to be creative in other ways and that’s when I took my first pottery class. I was hooked instantly.
I hand build all of my pieces from clay slabs. I spent a couple of years working on the wheel and found it very frustrating. I could never get my ideas out of my head.
After visiting my sister in Austin, TX, I came back and wanted to make a little cowboy boot so I taught myself how to hand build and was immediately obsessed. I realized if I could build something small, I could also build much bigger and so I did.
Hand building takes much longer, but I’m able to get my vision out of my head almost every single time. I love that my pieces are more consistent and much lighter than if I had thrown them on the wheel.
Each piece of my main collection (mugs, small bud vases, cowboy boots, appetizer trays, coaster sets) takes about two to four hours to build and glaze. My larger pieces (lamps and flower vases) take upwards of 10 hours. Every single item I create is built with so much care, from beginning to end and I hope you love them as much as I do. <3
Interested in commissions? I’d love to hear your vision!
